The Forum aimed to bolster the protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River, both incorporated into China’s national strategy for a sustainable environment and the welfare of all its people. The parallel session, specializing in the demands for intensive use and conservation of water in the Yellow River Basin and related research progress, was organized to fuel the exchanges of ideas and add insights to the Forum, according to IWHR Vice President Dr. Wang Jianhua in his opening speech.

During the parallel session, Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and experts from universities and research institutes delved into the development of green and low-carbon industries, theories and technologies for high-efficiency water conservation, technologies for intensive use and conservation of water resources, critical technologies for the restraining role of water in social development, allocation of water rights and trading systems, etc.

IWHR scientists and research teams have initiated a series of specific R&D, practices and services to boost the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River, as China enacted the Yellow River Protection Law on April 1, 2023.
